Hi All
New thread-not BF related!
Does anyone have any experience on cracks behind babies ears? I have heard many mum's say their wee ones have had this but so many different things have been diagnosed, such as Eczema, fungal infections and simply dry skin from not drying properly. I have just been Googling it and kept reading that it can be a sign of an allergy to dairy products. When I first introduced Max to Dairy he was really sick but now that I am doing it more slowly and not giving too much per day, he's really settled doen. However, the cracks behind his ears have got worse over the past few days and today they look really sore and well...a bit manky! I have bathed them tonight and dried them thoroughly and am now using Lanolin cream. If it doesn't improve I shall take him to the Gp. Just wondering what your thoughts or experiences are really as I have so far had mixed stories.
Thanks
kath

Hey honey Not really had any experience of this so not much help at all. I would def take Max to the docs if it doesn't clear, just to see what they say. Does it seem to bother him at all? I'm sorry i'm not more help, just remember that what you read on internet is generally worse case senario. (((((((((((((()))))))))))))) xxx

Maria
I agree Sodocrem is good stuff! I will see how it goes....the Lanolin cream has been great for my nipples so am hoping it works for Max's ear too. Any sign of Ella's cracks/creases behind the ears bleeding? At first I thought it looked like dry food that had collected up but when I wiped (ok picked!!!!) it made it bleed! I have heard lots of mum's say the same so was just wondering if anyone came up with a solution and even diagnosis???????

hi kath no ella doesn't have any blood or bits to pick at! the creases in ella throat and behind her ears are what i would call "normal creases" i just put the cream on to make sure that if ive not dried her properly there is less chance of her skin becoming chapped. (carl once had what we thoughtn could have been a sweat rash under his arm, which went really manky, he used the sudacream and within a couple of day it was gone completely) Sorry im not much use

Finally went to the GP today regarding Maxwell's ears as they are starting to look quite sore and weepy now! Anyway, he has a bacterial/fungal infection (ANOTHER ONE!) called something like Staphyloccocal???? It's nothing really and will clear up with the ointment (which also contains laonlin and is used for severe nappy rash too.) The GP said that because Max has had thrush recently he is more at risk of other fungal infections. I hope this is the last of it! Chicken Pox doing the rounds still so we may as well have some of that whilst we are at it!!!!!!
Just thought I'd let you know what the GP said.
Fingers crossed we think the Oral and nipple thrush has cleared now! I wouldn't reccomend it!!!!!!!!!!

Kath - poor Max. Can't believe it. Think you must have a car-parking space at that drs with your name on it!!!
Hope the cream clears it up (probably another one Anna has had with her various skin probs - we have about 5 tubes on the go each with just a little bit out of the top!)
Hope it clears up before the next thing strikes! Good things he's such a cheerful chappy

Hi Kath Hope things are clearing up for Max poor little man. I never seem to miss a week without needing the doctors i keep telling them i'm after a job! We spoke the other wk about Elliot's ears his have been quite sore too and he's been pulling on them and has made one bleed. My GP said it was eczema and told me to put emollient 50 on. Elliot's seem to flare up when he's teething or thats what i was associating it with but he's had ear infection so i'm going to watch out for them flaring up again in case it's sign of ear infection. They always seem to have something. Hope the cream works very soon x x x
